Mini Vacation Colonial Williamsburg

Not far from the beach is Williamsburg. We love Williamsburg, it's such a great town. We both have siblings that have lived/live there so are lucky to have an inside connection to the town. There is a lot to do besides the Colonial stuff too and we didn't get to a lot of the stuff we wanted to do. We can't wait to go back and spend more time there. I know that my sibling who moved away misses this place very much and they try and go back whenever they can.

Eating at the bread and cheese store in colonial Williamsburg, apparently this is the place, it was packed. They are famous for their bread ends and cheese dip (which I learned has no cheese and is mayo based)

We let Kate pick out a piece of candy from the candy store in colonial willamsburg, she picked this lollipop and ate the whole thing before we even left

The toy store, filled with cute stuff we made it out of there alive and without breaking the bank

We spent and evening at the Yankee Candle Store, sounds random but it's an awesome place, it's one huge store divided up into small sections that you can browse through, they have fun things to do like candle dipping, they have an awesome Christmas display and we even ran into Santa there, he was wearing his red and while Jimmy Buffet shirt. Kate asked him about his reindeer and Santa said they were in the parking lot and Kate said she didn't see them so Santa said they sometimes go to the pool if it gets too hot. As soon as I pulled my camera out Kate ran off and that was the end of it. I wished I would've snapped just one shot.

Lots of fun Christmas things to look at, makes me excited about Christmas

This hot dog restaurant came recommended to us by Troy and Katie, it was really good, it's a bit of the a hole in the wall but it was pretty busy and Kate got to take a picture next to the hot dog man
We also spent one day at Busch Gardens. It was a hot day so the girls were glad they had a chance to cool off in the water garden. This was actually Kate's favorite thing at busch gardens and she could've spent all day here.

She did manage to ride a few rides, but she isn't quite ready for the thrill of the big coasters. She had such a great time and was definitely ready to go by the end of the day.

Kate spotted this bear from far away, she demanded that we take pictures in front of this bear.

Mini Vacation The Children's Museum

So when it rained the next day on our beach trip we didn't let that stop us from having fun and we headed down to the children's museum. It was such a neat museum, we really had a great time. They had lots of cool displays and they had this cute thing where they let all the kids get 1 free book/child. Such a good idea. They were doing a special thing where they had a balloon artist making the kids balloon animals, they had a face painter (Kate refused to do that one) they had Lowe's there and did a build a Kaleidoscope thingie, there were musicians and the kids could play along with instruments, and an artist which made us a pretty butterfly painting (will try and get a picture up since I have a funny story to go along with that)

Mini Vacation

We have a week long vacation planned for the end of September which I can hardly wait for, but to take our minds off that upcoming vacation we decided to take a minivacation. We had such a great time. Imgaine the most perfect summer day, not too hot, a nice summer breeze, the sun is high in the sky but not blinding a few clouds drifting by...now imagine being on a sandy beach, that was our beach day. It was incredible, and we consider ourselves lucky since the next day it rained and after that we were on to our next stop. The best part about the beach was our location we ended up in an area that had a park on the beach, it was great for since our girls would go back and forth between the park and the beach. We stayed at the beach until dark and left kicking and screaming we didn't want to leave.

I love this picture of Lydia

The girls had so much fun playing in the sand, they would build this trenches and then sit in them, I got a kick outta watching Lydia crawl in and out of them

Kate goofin off

This child was covered in sand by the time we left, she had eaten so much sand, she was poopin sand for days. I remember Kate put sand in her mouth one time as a baby and that was it, not this one, it's an appetizer for her!

Painting the House Part 1

Is there anything worse then painting? All the prep, the time, the core workout, rolling up and down only to have to apply a second coat! Every time I thought of painting I looked at my white walls and thought to myself, "white isn't too bad". I wanted to hire someone but man that is SO expensive. Then there was picking the color, where do you start, do you know how many colors there are? If you look closely to the pictures you'll see I bought small samples to "test" before making the big plunge. It was much easier then I thought it would be to narrow down to a paint color. Although I did end up buying 5 samples before I picked a color. The results have been worth it. I'm glad to have the white walls gone, I've learned that I'm a color person. I must have color!! As soon as I finished the kitchen/family room I immediately moved to the front of the house and now have the living room, entry way and dining room done (pictures to come). When I finished that I did the girls rooms...also will post pictures. My friend did warned me, she told me as soon as I painted one room I wouldn't stop until they were all done, I didn't believe her, but she is right. I'm not stopping until the whole house is painted!

Cuties Even when A Mess

Here are some more pictures I came across from the spring. I don't really even remember much about the events surrounding these pictures but that is OK, because they speak for themselves.

Our girls LOVE the mall. I can't really blame them I do to! Really though our mall is like a mini amusement park, we have a play area for the kids, a train you can ride around the mall on, and a carousel...Kate always picks that same black horse.

3 Easter's this year!

It's almost August, and I'm blogging about Easter. That is just how it goes around here. We had 3 Easter's this year.

We took the girls to the community center's Easter egg hunt. I told Kate to look for the golden egg because there was a special prize. I have to dig up the picture, it's on brock's iphone but her basket was filled with only yellow eggs. Any time she saw a colored egg she just left it she was hoping that the yellow ones qualified as golden egg, she was very disappointed to learn that she didn't really have THE golden egg. At the community center they had cute games/crafts for the kids, and we had our pictures taken with the Easter bunny (almost must try and update with those pictures). They made really cute Easter bunny hats. Which Kate loved wearing and
Lydia loved to try and take off and rip into shreds.

We then went to my brother's house for a family Easter egg hunt. He lives on a nice big property which was perfect for a big hunt. Kate's basket, she did such a good job posing for the camera, check out where her hand is!

One of the only good pictures of Kate and Lydia together

Easter at our house, check out what the Easter Bunny brought the girls...we hid their baskets and Kate had a great time hunting for them
She found them in the living room and is having a great time going through her stuff, Lydia, (around 11months) loved being a part of all this action and was having a great time checking everything out
