Fun Stuff

It's been awhile since I last posted anything and I finally uploaded pictures from Christmas to the computer so thought I would play catch up. Christmas was exciting this year with a toddler, although I don't' think she is a typical toddler when it comes to gifts I had to trick her into opening her gifts by telling her "mommy will open it" and as stubborn and independent as she is would always reply "no, Kate open it" she hates the idea of me doing anything for her when she can do it herself. It definitely has to be her idea. Which leads to potty training, not happening! Not at least until it becomes her idea to do it. I spent a good amount of December bribing her with cute undies and chocolates for doing her duty on the porcelain throne but to no avail. She seems to get and love everything about potty training except the part where you go potty. So we took a break and I'll try again at some point.



She has definitely become a chatty Kate lately and it's so cute and fun to actually hear all the things that have been running through her mind for the last couple of years come to life. I could makes lists and lists of the cuteness of her language and probably will, for my benefit since I never want to forget them. I'll save her cuteisms for another post for now since I'm trying to catch up here.

I should be shot, we hardly have any Christmas photo's, Ghrr! I really need to get on the ball with my photo-taking. These are a couple from Nana's house. We have the best Christmas's there, she does more for us then we can for our own family. Maybe that's why I didn't take pictures at the other Christmases we did.

This is Kate is her Christmas Dress that Nana got for her. Green is definitely her color! Of course I think she looks great in any color. That's Nana's black cat Tiki, she rescued him from K-mart.

This was her big gift from Nana, a kitchen I just love how she is snuggled up with her bear just drooling over the box. She got some great toys from Nana, an Elmo live, some bath toys, a cute little puppy that moves, I think it's a furreal maybe? Oh and our dog is in the striped sweater with the gingerbread man on it.

Baby Pictures

So I'm beginning to think I was abducted by aliens a few months ago and they impregnated me and now I'm carry an alien baby. We had the big ultrasound and from the pictures it can clearly be determined that this is not a human child!

The truth is this little one is just like it's big sister and can be very uncooperative. We couldn't get any good images because the baby preferred to be in a position that was undesirable to achieve good shots. But from what they can tell everything looks healthy. That's the only thing we wanted to hear. It was really hard to resist finding out what we are having but we did it. I guess we are going to wait until the big day to find out if we will be blessed with a son or another daughter. Of course I have more ultrasounds coming up to watch for a few things, placenta previa for one, so in my mind that is just more temptation to find out. I will keep you posted.

Making Cookies

Is Christmas complete without making and decorating sugar cookies? This was Kate's first attempt at decorating them, it was practically mine. It's been a long time since I've done this. As you'll notice from the video I only had one shape cookie cutter. I bought the mix and used store bought icing, so I took a lot of short cuts in this project. It was fun and of course very entertaining for us to watch Kate totally into the whole thing. I'm sure she went to bed with a tummy ache with all the finger licking and m&m snitching she did.

Picking out our Tree

For the last few years we've gone to Christmas tree farms to cut our Christmas trees. This year I wanted to go down the street to Home Depot when Brock insisted that we go cut our own tree. I think it makes him feel manly to cut down a tree, but he says it because the tree lasts longer because it's fresher. I know he's right, I haven't had to vacuum up any needles yet and it's been almost 3 weeks.

Here's a little video of her looking at the tree once we got it all set up and put lights on. We did this while she was napping so that we could WOW her once she got up. I was hoping for more of a reaction but she still seemed to enjoy it. She loved helping us decorate the tree with ornaments and she is constantly rearranging them still.

A Kate and Daddy tradition

Brock's favorite food is steak, in fact it's been his little tradition that every Saturday he grill up a juicy steak for lunch. Well Kate has become quite a little steak eater herself, it's cute to watch Kate and the dog beg him for bites. I love it because I don't have to make lunch for either one of them on Saturdays. I've actually been known to on occasion beg for a bite myself or even ask for him to grill me up one too. Here's a little video footage. Normally I don't allow Kate to be on the kitchen table like this, but here it is late at night, they were both hungry, I was tired, so I just let them do their thing.

We are growing by 2 feet!

Kate has an announcement....

And here it is our little guy or gal. This is around 13 weeks. Our due date is the last week of May 2009, (sounds so far away). We are telling ourselves that we are not going to find out the gender. Hope we don't cave. We found out with Kate which was fun, but we think it will also be fun to find out in the delivery room. Any guesses as to what we are having?

It sorta looks like the baby is sticking their tongue out at us, little stinker!

Happy Halloween

Here are a few Halloween pictures, it was hard to decide what Kate should be for Halloween this year. We had several costumes given to us and it was hard for Kate to choose just one! Emily made her the poodle skirt and as much as Kate loves dogs it just seemed appropriate, not to mention that we had saddle shoes to complete the look. We went to the town parade with a friend and then to a Halloween party a family from church was doing. It was cute to watch Kate go trick-or-treating. It took one time to figure out how those magical words work. She spoke very clearly, and always thanked everyone for their treat. She is a very polite little girl. Towards the end she was getting tired and would just hold out her bag and say "bag"!
